Providing Internet Access to Hyper-V machines through a WiFi Adapter

So running around from Hyper-V environment to Hyper-V environment, there are always two things I need to do.

1. Network my host to the VPC through a loopback adapter so that I can remote desktop into it and
2. Get internet connectivity

Now when you want to get internet connectivity you can do it through your Wireless connection or if you have a data card, through dial-up.

This method talks about the former option, it is so easy if you just follow these steps:

Open Hyper-V manager
Click on the Virtual Network Manager and create an Internal Virtual Network by selecting Internal and clicking Add.
Give a meaningful Name
Apply and OK
Now a Virtual Network has been created which can be associated with 1 or more virtual machines.
On the host machine, in the Network and Sharing Center click on Change Adapter Settings
Select your WiFi Adapter and the Internal Virtual Network you created.
Right click and select Bridge Network and the bridge is created.
In the Hyper-V Manager, right click the virtual machine and select settings
Add a Network Adapter and select the Internal Virtual Network you created initially from the drop down.
Click apply and ok.

Shit, I am just sitting here thinking how flippen well many people I have come across in life have done on a global scale

District 9

No, I am not thinking “Nic, what the hell happened to you”… well, maybe I am, but I do know one thing. All of them had passion for what they did. Huge, gigantic passion, bigger than you can imagine.

I am pretty sure I know what I am passionate about, so hopefully I can go about growing things as well, but hopefully we all have that thing that we believe in and can excel at in life.

Anyway. I think it is flippen amazing what a good handful of these guys from CT have done and I am very privileged to have been apart of so many things growing up.

Yip, it is really up to me if I am going to take the next step and move on in the right direction, but I do believe there is plenty of time! Until then….

The Queen - Ascot

The last month… what can I say, not much going on at all.

Getting ready for the folks arrival on 2 July which happens to be mom’s b-day. Otherwise I am feeling much better which is great, so I can exercise again. I have started cycling on a Chris Boardmans carbon racer which is pretty fast. I took it for a spin today and clocked 50km/h.

Things that have happend this month:

Cleaned Pat and Jas at table tennis

Went to Ascot for the second time now to see the queen with K2 (see pic)

Watched SA clean the Lions today with the boytjies

Willa is in Russia (first Moscow then St Petersburg, she saw that famous painting of Matisse today - Dance (2))

Work is going well, grafting hard and hopefully we are going to win a key deal early next Q

Bought a ticket home for December holidays (25 Dec - 11 Jan in Cape Town)

So looking forward to July holidays. France for a wedding and then Greece with the folks, should be good.

Saracens Awards Dinner 2009

I can’t believe 2 months, ago almost to this day, I was saying how sick the weather was. It is really warm with consistant 20 degree’s and only dark at 9:30pm, so stoked. I must say, the UK in summer time is brilliant. Everyone is out doing something.

What have I been up to over the last 2 months, well…

Played my first driving range golf with David Jordan
Played some TopGolf topgolf.co.uk with Andre and a couple other SA guys
Played some touchies with Rich
Willa has been over and we had some good meals with her friends. Roast lamb and some good curries (with sauses from the Earls Court food festival)
Sorted out some things with K2. Now bring on version 090X.
Played Tennis with Chris at the free courts in Raynes Park.
Cleaned Jason at table tennis. The P.I.G. could be my new neighbour!
Pat and I watched the Madrid Open supporting Andy Murray. The next day we were supporting the Bulls, Blues and Chiefs!
Following Del Potro in the French Open. I think he is underestimated!
Lots of soccer on the field next door.
Had some drinks and dinner with Joofie and Taylor at the Leather Bottle. That place is sick, but they don’t server Magners. Bulmers is NOT Magners!
Watched IRB World 7’s at Twickenham
Came second in the Fantasy Premier League - Well done Boom
Oh yes, went to the Saracens awards dinner 2009 with Willa. Was very cool, 800 people black tie at the Grosvenor House in London.

I didn’t think I was up to much, but I think that’s the great thing about London, there is just so much to do.

10 Reasons the UK is great

Moving into summer it is hard not to feel a bit more positive about things, so I thought I would think of my top ten reasons why the UK is great:

Football, football football, and if you willing to fork out you can catch it LIVE!
Interest rates are 0.5%, now if only I hadn’t fixed my mortgage!
Travel. No one would even blink an eye if you told them you were off to Spain, Las Vegas, France, Greece or Croatia for the weekend.
Business. The UK is small and it is quick to become well networked in a small amount of time. Everyone generally has a great vibe and opportunities are everywhere.
Friends. Everyone is alot closer living in SW London and you see your close friends often.
Chav’s. Well not the chav’s themselves, but the vibe is insane. You can even go get some good food at their markets. Always fun call your friends Chav’s and it actually means something.
Summer. It only gets dark at 10:30pm!
Beach. If you make special trips to actually get to see the beach, it means that much more than just going to clifton/camps bay day after day.
Safety. I can’t say I have ever had to worry about how much money I have in my wallet in case I got mugged. Yes, I have actually be mugged in SA and told that people were going to ‘knife me’ which I can laugh about now.
The opportunity to get a UK passport and travel freely around Europe without having to queue/pay for rediculous Visa’s. Still working towards this luxury.

I must say, I didn’t have to think too hard about that list, even though the last one was streching it a bit.

Arsenal vs West Ham

Well, not much has happened in the last month, just been grafting and consolidating. Did some work on site with Peabody and ECGD and had a big demo to prepare for Kingston. Willa managed to visit for my birthday before going off to Kenya for three weeks and I have been keeping busy by training for a half marathon this weekend.

It certainly is getting warmer and lighter and I don’t really think of it as winter anymore which is great. This is what I have been up to

Arsenal vs West Ham with Taylor, 0-0
Birthday braai with all the guys
SA Forum meeting regarding Saracens Rugby in the UK
Cleaned up an 11 mile run with the Windmilers!

Come on sub-90 this weekend in the Hague. Lets see if I can do it.

New Years and Jan 09

New Year 08/09

Went home to SA for a 3 week holiday and had a great time with the family. Not much has changed. My nephews have grown ALOT and now support Liverpool (Chris, Tim) and Chelsea (Robert and Michael).

Got back to England on the 28th and worked the last week of the year. Willa and her friend came over for New Years and we went to London to see what it was all about. Pretty cool but I doubt I will ever mission to London again for New Years.

Since I have been back I can’t say I have had many highlights:

Have started training big time for a half marathon I am running in Holland in March.
Have started studying for some courses I said I would do as part of my new years resolutions.
Went to the Arsenal Bolton game with the P.I.G. Arsenal won 1-0 in the last ten minutes (it was -4 degrees!)
Snowed quite a bit as for the first 10 days the temp was consistantly 0 degrees.
Willa had her birthday yesterday but is only coming this weekend to celebrate it!

Beach of Barcelona

So it is almost the end of November and another month has just flown by.

I have been nice and busy at work with a little ‘break’ inbetween with a week in Barcelona for TechEd 2008.

It’s a good thing I keep up this blog otherwise I would really forget all the things that actually happen week in and week out.

Highlights include:

Ate 2 huge hotdogs at the Arsenal vs Fernabache game at the Emirates Stadium
Barcelona for TechEd 2008
Visits to the Market with Willa and SG - steaks and beef
Our UK friend David had a baby and I saw it at 6 days old, hectic! He also had a cool house party before that.
Petran got engaged and had some drinks with the happy couple to celebrate.
Sorting out my first UK car (Red Rover) at a massive cost of £0. Now I need to sort my garage out.

Anyway, off to SA next week for a well deserved holiday. It has been a non-stop year and a break is in order. Looking forward to Clifton, Camps Bay and Pearly Beach. I can’t even imagine what sun must be like…

Sunny October

Milan - Duomo

Well another month has flow by and surprisingly the weather here has still been pretty good. I have started to ride to work and, touch wood, I haven’t had one rainy day to have to ride in.

Just had an awesome day at my boets house today and caught up with my nephew and niece. We finished off with a good braai with ribs!

The last month has been busy as usual and it has been great because Willa has been around to help with the house. We have even managed to finish painting.

Highlights for this month are probably the trip to Milan for business and the visit to Portabella market for the day with Willa. Willa is now back in Holland for a month before she comes back to visit in November. I am off to Wales on Monday and Tuesday which should also be cool.

Starting to hit the gym hard to prepare for my trip to SA in early December. Can’t wait.
